Dental Implants have emerged as the contemporary standard of care for those looking for a permanent solution to restore lost teeth and regain their confidence and smile.

It’s crucial for your overall health to replace any missing teeth. There are numerous advantages to doing so, such as improved chewing, smiling, and speaking abilities. It can also help prevent dental displacement, bone deterioration, and other oral health complications.

Temporary solutions like bridges or dentures can fill in the gaps in your teeth, but they may not appear or feel as natural. They can also lead to problems such as damage to healthy teeth, bone loss, and alterations in your facial bone structure.

Dental Implants can act as a substitute for one or more of your teeth, offering a robust, appealing, and natural-looking solution. Dr. Cristian Dunker can create a tooth implant that not only appears genuine but also feels real. This is true for both the person wearing it and those observing. At ArtSmiles Cosmetic Dentistry in Gold Coast, we utilize cutting-edge technology and a high-quality, on-demand lab that meticulously constructs dental implants using the best materials.

What Are Dental Implants?

A dental implant is a long-lasting solution for tooth replacement that is surgically inserted into the jaw. Each implant consists of three parts:

  1. A post – the base of dental implants
  2. An abutment – the connecting piece
  3. A crown or prosthesis – the permanent, new tooth

The post, often referred to as a screw, is implanted into the bone under your gums to substitute the root of your tooth. Posts are constructed from medical-grade titanium, a substance that naturally fuses with your bone, providing a sturdy anchor for your artificial teeth.. The abutment is a connector piece that attaches your implant post to your new replacement tooth, also known as the crown.

Your crowns are tailor-made to mimic the appearance of natural teeth. If you’re substituting several teeth, you might be given a bridge or another multi-tooth replacement rather than a single-tooth crown.

Implants are gaining popularity due to their high success rate. For patients looking to replace a single tooth or several teeth, many dental experts suggest implants as the primary option to think about.

At ArtSmiles Cosmetic Dentistry, we provide bespoke Dental Implants that can replicate or substitute your natural teeth. Dr Cristian ensures that the Dental Implants you receive will deliver the precise smile makeover you’ve always desired. The Benefits of Dental Implants.

The Advantages Of Dental Implants

With proper care and regular oral hygiene, your implants can last a lifetime. The titanium implants form a permanent bond with the bone in your jaw, allowing your implants to function just like natural teeth with healthy gums.

In the long run a properly placed and maintained dental implant can actually help save you money, time and aggravation.

Dental Implants look, feel and function just like healthy natural teeth. Most patients opt for dental implants to restore their smiles, self-esteem, and confidence, so they enjoy a healthy smile, worry free!
Bone loss, dental shifting, and other issues can arise when teeth are missing for an extended length of time. Dental implants stimulate the bone beneath your gums, preventing bone loss. Your new replacement teeth will also prevent any dental shifting around the missing tooth site and simplify your dental care.
After the healing period is complete, they are just as strong as healthy teeth. Implant patients can eat the foods they enjoy without worrying about their implants slipping or coming out of place. A dental implant procedure provides a great sense of security that teeth will not fall out when eating, laughing or sneezing

It is much easier to care for a dental implant supported crown, which can be cleaned like a natural tooth.

Because dental implants are easier to brush and keep clean than dentures or bridges, they may reduce your risk of developing gum disease in the future.

The human jaw bone maintains its integrity through proper stimulation from the roots of the teeth. When a tooth is missing, that portion of the jaw bone atrophies and wastes away.

Implants can help preserve the integrity of your mouth and face by supporting gum and jawbone structure, stimulating the jaw bone, preventing it from deteriorating, and help avoid serious bone loss and oral health problems.

The appearance of your smile will be more natural and your new teeth will function just like natural teeth. This not only increases comfort, but it also boosts self-confidence when smiling, speaking, and eating. In fact, if dentures or partials are replaced with dental implant supported teeth, the overall boost in quality of life is even more significant thanks to expanded food options, the elimination of messy adhesives, and improved speech, comfort and appearance.

Traditional replacements, like dental bridges, or removable partial dentures, permanently damage the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth space. Dental implants are independent of the neighbouring teeth and will not damage or affect your natural teeth.

Types Of Dental Implants

There are a number of different dental implant types that can be used to treat patients with missing, chipped, or diseased teeth. The type that we use is based on a thorough examination of your mouth and your oral and general health history. Here are the four main types of dental implants that dentists choose to offer patients:

Digital image of Single-Stage Dental Implant

1. Single-Stage Dental Implant

This implant is called a single-stage implant because it usually only requires one surgical procedure to install it. The procedure involves surgically placing a longer implant into your jaw so it’s on the jaw bone, with the top of the implant level with the gum tissue.

Once the implant is in, the gum tissue stitches and closes, leaving the head of the implant visible. After a few months of healing, the dental implant abutment and temporary restoration can attach to the exposing head of the implant without needing any additional surgery.

2. Two-Stage Dental Implant

This implant requires two surgical procedures for it to be set in place. The first procedure involves placing the implant into the jaw bone and stitching the gum tissue shut. Two to six months after healing, a second minor surgery is done to expose the implant and attach a dental implant abutment and temporary restoration.

Digital Image of Fixed Implant Bridges

3. Fixed Implant Bridges

In cases where multiple teeth are missing, patients may be advised to get a Fixed Implant Bridge. This method avoids the hassle involved with partial dentures, as it doesn’t require metallic clasps during the process.

Fixed bridges result in better aesthetics and has no affect to adjacent teeth. Other benefits of bridges is the restoration of your mouth functionality, and preventing remaining teeth from moving out of position.

Digital Image of Implant Overdentures

4. Implant Overdentures

Implant overdentures are a great alternative to traditional dentures. Overdentures are placed on top of implants which can add stability when compared to traditional dentures.

The benefits of overdentures often include an easier time chewing foods, improved speech, minimized discomfort, no more denture adhesives and often existing dentures can be used.

Digital Image of All-On-4 Dental Implants

5. All-on-4 dental implants

Patients who would otherwise require a full set of dentures can opt for All On 4, a non-removable denture fixed to 4 or more implants replacing the teeth in one jaw. This has become the most popular worldwide option for patients missing all their teeth. It can be made of titanium/acrylic or zirconium.

Tooth breakage is common if the material choice is wrong or if the patient has a strong bite, clenches or grinds. It is a very good option when done properly with the correct combination of materials. The final result is highly aesthetic, functional and comfortable.

Dental Implants Procedures

Our cutting edge dental implant technology, advanced techniques and years of experience allow most implant patients, even those with a failing tooth to have an implant and temporary crown the same day. For most patient, in just a few hours, any existing teeth are removed, implants placed and fixed temporary teeth are placed all in the same visit.

To begin the process, we will place dental implants into the jawbone to act as a tooth root and create a solid foundation for the new teeth. This scenario creates a seamless treatment with the patient usually leaving with a much better tooth than the original.

After a few months, a permanent implant crown can be delivered to replace the temporary crown. The temporaries provide us with a road map for making the permanent teeth. By comparing what we like and don’t like about the temporaries we fine-tune the permanent teeth to the patient’s highest expectations.

Our commitment to you is to provide high quality dental restorations to ensure your implants last, so you can smile and eat with confidence.

What Is the Cost of Dental Implants?

Dr Dunker will assess your general and oral health prior to discussing implant placement. The consultation is complimentary. If you have a good general and oral health, Dr Dunker will ask for an 3D x-ray of the jaw.

A 3D x-ray is necessary for implant placement. For your comfort, ArtSmiles has this equipment available. You can bring this x-ray if you already have it. If you decide to take the x-ray with us, and if you are not a member of ArtSmiles Club yet, there is a cost of $180,00 for the x-ray and you can take it with you.

After taking the x-ray, Dr Dunker will plan the case in front of you and explain everything related to your treatment plan. Usually this consultation takes between 30 and 45 minutes.

Once you accept the treatment, Dr Dunker will scan your mouth. This 3D scan will be merged with your x-ray to create a surgical guide. Most of our surgeries are guided, in order to improve safety, predictability, and provide less trauma to the patient.

Dr Dunker will also discuss the surgical process and risks with you. This consult takes 30 minutes.

The implant surgery is usually executed in 45-60 minutes. At ArtSmiles, we are proud of our excellence in infection control, and for surgery that means that everything we use during the surgery must be sterile and the technique aseptic.

As we use surgical guides, the implant is positioned as predicted in the planning, which reduces the risk of damaging important structures of your jaw.

The implants used by Dr Cristian are Dentsply Sirona implants,  which are considered as one of the gold standard implants by the academic dental world. Due to it’s quality, Dentsply Sirona offers lifetime warranty for their implants. This cover is related to the product, but not the surgical procedure. To check the service warranty offered by ArtSmiles, please click here.

Depending on the complexity of the case, Dr Dunker may use additional procedures to build bone or gingiva around the implant. These procedures increase the time and cost of the surgery. These procedures are evaluated and discussed with you in the planning consult. In cases of narrow bone, it may be required to execute a bone graft before the implant placement.

Aesthetic cases will require a provisional crown.

After 2 months of the surgery, you must come for a 45 minutes consult to evaluate the osseointegration and do the scanning of your mouth to receive the crown on implant.

This is the first of two visits for crown placement, and we’ll kindly ask for 50% prepayment of the code 672 – Porcelain crown on implant, and 661 – Abutment.

Depending on the complexity, we may deliver the crown in the next day of the scanning, or up to 2 weeks, when an outsourced lab service is required.

In cosmetic cases, we normally recommend using a lab service for shade match. There is an additional cost if a lab is used for aesthetically demanding cases.
