Your new implant crown or bridge has just been fitted—congratulations! This is the final stage of your implant treatment, and with proper care, your restoration can last many years. These instructions will help you adjust comfortably and keep your implant healthy for the long term.
Mild tenderness or pressure around the gum area is normal and should resolve within a few days.
If minor adjustments were made, it may take a few days for your bite to feel perfectly natural.
You may experience slight speech changes with multi-unit bridges—this will resolve quickly.
You may eat as soon as the numbness wears off, but avoid chewing directly on the implant crown for the first 24 hours.
Start with softer foods and chew gently as your bite adapts.
Avoid using your implant to bite down on very hard foods (e.g., ice, bones, popcorn kernels).
Never use your teeth to open packaging or bottles.
Brush around your implant crown as you would with a natural tooth—use a soft toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste.
Floss carefully around the implant, or use superfloss or interdental brushes.
A water flosser is recommended for cleaning around implants and under bridges.
Rinse with warm saltwater for a few days if the gum is tender.
Your implant crown is cemented or screw-retained and should feel stable and natural.
If you ever feel the crown moving, clicking, or shifting—contact us immediately.
For multi-unit bridges, regular maintenance is crucial to prevent inflammation or infection under the bridge.
If you grind or clench your teeth at night, a night guard is essential to protect the implant and ceramic crown from stress and wear.
Schedule regular 6-month hygiene visits for implant cleaning and assessment.
We may recommend periodic X-rays to ensure the implant remains healthy below the surface.
Pain, swelling, or redness around the implant
Clicking, movement, or a gap forming under the crown
