Post-Operative Instructions for Veneers, Crowns and Bridges

Caring for Your New Smile

You’ve just completed your veneer / crown / bridge treatment—congratulations! To maintain your stunning new smile and ensure long-lasting results, it’s important to follow these care guidelines closely.

What to Expect

You may experience mild sensitivity to cold or pressure for a few days, especially if multiple veneers were placed.

Some patients feel slight tightness or fullness in their bite as the mouth adjusts—this typically resolves within a week.

If local anesthesia was used, avoid eating until full feeling has returned.

Oral Hygiene

Brush and floss as you normally would using a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste.

Floss carefully around the veneers to prevent gum inflammation. Waterflosser is also effective and convenient removing plaque between teeth.

Avoid whitening products not approved by your dentist.

Dietary Tips

Avoid biting into hard items like ice, nuts, or pens.

Do not use your veneers to open packages or bottles.

Reduce intake of foods and drinks that stain (e.g., red wine, coffee, tea) to keep your veneers looking pristine.

Night Protection

If you grind your teeth at night, use a night guard provided or recommended by your dentist.

Wearing a guard protects your veneers from chipping, cracking, or debonding over time.

Long-Term Maintenance

Visit us every 6 months for professional cleanings and check-ups.

Veneers are durable but not indestructible—good oral hygiene and regular visits are key to making them last 10–15+ years.
